CALL FOR PAPERS
<<UML>>'98
Unified Modeling Language: Beyond the Notation
Mulhouse, France
June 3-4, 1998
Organized by ESSAIM and the University of Haute-Alsace
Due to several last minute submittor requests, submission of proposed
papers has been extended to March 22.
Please note that March 22 is a HARD deadline.
We shall be very grateful if you could disseminate this information
among your interested colleagues.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the <<UML>>'98 web site at :
http://www.essaim.univ-mulhouse.fr/uml/evenements
------------------------------------------------------------------
OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE
The UML (Unified Modeling Language) is an emerging standard
modeling language for the description of software systems.
UML is being accepted by the software industry as a significant
step forward. However, there are still many open issues and
ways for improvement, as well as many possible directions to put
the notation to work.
The goal of <<UML>>'98 is to provide a forum where to expose
open questions in research, practice and education, and to
foster discussions between researchers, practitioners, and
instructors.
TOPICS OF INTEREST (not limitative)
- Putting the notation to work: experience reports
- Describing problems and describing solutions using UML
- Usability of the graphical notation; Ergonomy
- Missing and/or redundant items; Extensibility
- Real-time extensions; Business modeling extensions; etc.
- UML and Workflow modeling
- Analysis, Design, Domain modeling and Requirement engineering
- Notation-compatible software processes
- Correspondence with other notations : CDIF, STEP/EXPRESS, SDL,
IDEF, ER, etc.
- Language mappings
- Semantic enhancement; Semantic verification
- Constraint languages; Action languages, etc.
- Formal definition of UML features
- UML as the missing link from informal to formal?
- UML and Metadata
- Meta-model architecture, Meta-models alignments
- Levels of conformance; Levels of transfer
- Round-trip engineering
- Modularity in UML
- Component definition, Architecture definition
- Tools for using UML
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
