A refined architecture for DRM
Abstract
Software technology is playing an increasingly important role in the development and evolution of DRM systems, as has been confirmed by the DRM community. Although the DRM landscape already shows valuable initiatives that confirm the important role of software architectures, their level of abstraction makes it often difficult, if not impossible, to actually benefit from reusability of and interoperability between DRM service components.
The contribution of this report is that it provides a middle ground software architecture for DRM, which offers a blueprint that guides developers in connecting components. It extends the high-level architecture previously proposed\cite{bib:MVJ05} by solving known issues and adding new features.
The aim of this report is to show how existing DRM architectures can increase their maturity and usability by offering higher level abstractions. In this way, the report tries to offer the oxygen necessary to continue the maturization of DRM software development.
