More information about Passwords

To be able to use the departmental computer systems, you need to use the following passwords :

  • LDAP/Unix password to login to departmental computer systems
  • Intranet-UID password to login to student computer room systems
  • Samba password to login to samba servers

How to change these passwords is explained here.
Changes are effective immediately except for the Samba password on other Samba servers than samba.cs.kuleuven.be.

The following passwords are synchronized with the departmental LDAP password.

  • PAS password to login to the Printer Accounting System
Is synchronized with the LDAP password automatically, so if you changed your LDAP password during the day, PAS will know/need this new password immediately.
  • POP/IMAP password to access your E-Mail
Is synchronized with the LDAP password automatically, so if you changed your LDAP password during the day, the POP/IMAP server will know/need this new password immediately.

Besides the above passwords that are synchronized, there are also:

  • Guestnet/wireless password to access our guest/wireless networks
    • Our guest/wireless networks do not use our own locally defined accounts but you need to authenticate using your KULeuven-wide account; more details can be found on the above guest/wireless documentation pages.

  • the Dial-in password to connect via our modems.
    • Ask the programmeur van week to change it for you when appropriate.
Please note that KuleuvenNet also has a modem pool, with their own password to connect. We cannot change that password, you can/must do this yourself as described on their web pages.
