Air connections
to Dubrovnik
The easiest way to reach Cavtat is by plane. Transportation
by plane is sponsored by Croatia Airlines. Croatia Airlines, as an official conference
carrier, offers ECML/PKDD-2003 participants (and one accompanying person)
a 25% discount on tickets (except for GV and market fares)
for all its flights related to the conference. Further information
and a 25% discount voucher can be found here.
Dubrovnik airport is at a 5 km distance from the conference
site.
Direct flights to Dubrovnik are available in summer. An indicative flight schedule can be found here. Note that it may not reflect
recent changes, please contact Croatia Airlines for definitive information.
There are also many airports with direct charter flights to Dubrovnik.
A travel agency selling holidays in Croatia is the right place to ask
about such flights.
Another possibility is travelling via Zagreb. There are two to four connections per day from Dubrovnik to Zagreb and back. An indicative flight schedule can be found here. From Zagreb, there are daily flights to all major cities in Europe.
In some cases a flight to Split may be a good solution as well. There are good
bus connections from Split to Dubrovnik. The drive may take about four hours but
the drive is along a very nice part of Croatian cost.

Bus connections
to Cavtat
There are very frequent connections between Cavtat and Dubrovnik city
by local bus (30 minutes) or by tourist boats (30 to 45 minutes). Bus
tickets can be obtained from kiosks, in hotels, at travel agencies or
on the bus itself.
Although Cavtat is close to the airport, there is no direct bus
connection between them. The best option is to arrange for a shuttle in
advance. When booking for the accommodation in hotels Croatia and Supetar,
you may use the field 'Remarks' to ask for the shuttle service which costs
KN
20-80 (EUR 3,00-11,00) for each direction, depending on the number of
persons.
There is a similar service for apartment guests. The price is fixed, KN 40
for
one direction if your apartment is in Cavtat and KN 50 if it is in
Dubrovnik.
At the moment hotels Cavtat, Epidaurus and Albatros do not have this
service.
Alternatives are to take the airport bus to Dubrovnik and then the
local bus back to Cavtat (this takes about an hour), or to take a taxi
(prices vary and may be high). Walking from the airport to Cavtat is
not advised.
